A 100-day roadmap for practical AI readiness
You do not need a multi-year transformation programme to get AI-ready. You do need a sequence that respects how small and medium businesses actually operate.
Here is a practical 100-day shape we use with clients.
Days 1–30: Clarity
- Run a readiness check across data, systems, governance, and people
- Name the workflows where AI would reduce rework or delay
- Identify the customer and operational data those workflows depend on
- Agree who owns quality for the critical fields
Days 31–60: Connection
- Map the systems that touch the chosen workflows
- Close the highest-friction handoffs first
- Reduce obvious duplicates and conflicting sources of truth
- Establish a lightweight reporting view the team will actually use
Days 61–100: Practice
- Introduce one AI use case with a clear owner and success metric
- Put basic access and usage guardrails in place
- Train the people who will use the workflow every week
- Review evidence, keep what works, stop what does not
Why this order matters
Tools are the easy part. Sequence is the hard part. Businesses that jump straight to agents usually rediscover, later and at higher cost, that the information layer was never ready.
